I remember when a local amphitheater named Walnut Creek first opened many, many moons ago. During the summers to follow it seemed that almost every weekend was filled with good quality rock shows. Now, it seems, after several name changes to the facility, that most of the shows are country, hip-hop, or R&B. I have nothing against any of these different types of music. I would just like to go to a rock concert and not have to work the next day. It looks like Raleigh is only good for rock shows Sunday thru Thursday...

There are enough rock shows in this area already. Sometime I think the Triangle scene is a bit saturated with Rock. I like rock, but I'm glad there are other options too. I use to get bummed too about concerts Sunday through Thursday, but then I realized these concerts are still very popular with college kids who don't care so much about being out late on a week night and going to a summer job the next day!

im going to be 27 this year, and i have no problem seeing a show in the middle of the week. that being said, i am sad (though i knew this beforehand) that Raleigh gets crap compared to Boston or the northeast in general as far as shows. i've outgrown it a bit, i guess, but id still love to see a cool show with bands i actually like every few weeks....

I was also at Walnut Creek its first summer for the first lolla...sooo good.
Not sure what some consider good...but Cat's Cradle has always drawn excellent bands/shows. You don't hear them on the radio (unless you listen to KNC) but top notch nonetheless. Heck...Chapel Hill is known for it's music scene (merge records, anyone?)
There's rarely a band that doesn't hit Raleigh, Greensboro or Charlotte.

Back in the day I got to go to a lot of free concerts by being designated driver for my Mom's friends at Walnut Creek.

At most. It's not just Raleigh by any means though. Music in general is in one seriously pathetic state.
