Our son is an infant at a 4 star center in the RTP area and we pay 1325 per month. The site is in the park and so convenient.

Primrose was slightly more but a 5 star facility nearing $1400(the one on 55 in Cary)

Default In Home Day Care

Honestly, we are looking right now and debating to switch or do in home care. I hope it is comparable for a live-out situation.

Good luck

I have a great sitter and would trade her for the world. It's in home care
for my 4 yr old. She takes her to and from pre-sch. She only charges me
$5.00/hr and for f/t kids she charges $150./week.

I was much happier having my child in a great providers home rather than
a day care.

Good luck!~

Good grief and I thought paying for my kid's college education was expensive! $1000-$1500 a month? I hope these are really nice daycares, who offer some type of education experience.

As a rule, in-home day cares charge much less Centers.

There is a wide range amongst Center costs as well. Some of the variance is due to the number of stars, some not. I can only speak to Durham price ranges, but having done some comparisons both when I was looking for care for my kids and as part of a project for our Center's Board of Directors, here are some appx ranges below for a 4 or 5 star Center in Durham. Keep in mind other variances in cost- some provide breakfast, lunch, and snack while others don't provide food at all. Some include special classes like music, etc in with the tution while others charge for extra activities (gym, Spanish, etc). I think it's crucial to check a Center's record with the State (easy to do online), see how your "gut" feeling of the place is, and most importantly, talk to parents who have kids at the Center, currently or very recently. Centers can change over the years due to changes in teachers, Directorships, etc, and quality can go up or down pretty drastically even just in the course of a year or two. Best of luck!

infant: $950-$1250 month
toddlers: $800-$1050 month
preschoolers: $650-950 month

We were floored when we had our first child at the cost of daycare. We have always used SAHM's and our last one was wonderful. I got laid off so I don't need her until I find another job but she watched my 14 month old FT for $140/wk and then $30/day for occassional drop in care when my schedule changed. She was much more flexible with hours and my child got to socialize while recieving personalized care in a loving, safe home. As far as I know she still has openings since she's lost her FT family to the economy as well, if anyone is looking email her at RaleighKids@gmail.com. She's great especially if you just need PT affordable and flexible care in NE Raleigh (27616). From what we could find SAHM's charge between $120-150 for FT infant-3 year old and $80-120 for 4yrs+ or potty trained, as for PT care expect anywhere from $10/hr for last minute child care to $25-30/day for scheduled care (pretty much the same for any age).

I have my kids in a daycare here at M'ville. My 5 yr old goes there full time, and my 1st grader is dropped off there, they take him to school, then brings him back, and then I go pick him up. For both of them it is $1200 per month. Before that, when both of them were in there full-time, I was paying $1900 per month.
