You have to be FORCEFUL to get away!!!

Hubby and I play "good hsband, bad wife". Once you start arguing between yourselves, they usually WANT you to go away!!! Or take the kids. If you set your appointment for 10AM, by 12 noon, the kids are screaming for lunch and they'll beg you to leave!

Back in the day, we had no money for a weekend at the beach so for us, it was worthwhile.

Today, they couldn't pay me enough to go!!!

Well, ok. Maybe $10,000 and I'd go!!!

Vicki

Yes, now, I wouldn't have any trouble getting away.

Basically, my husband and I are nice people. Very, very nice. We had our strategy, but it wasn't good enough. Those salespeople were nuts. We didn't want to start smacking people around, and we were practically at that point.

These days, I probably would just start shrieking like I was just struck down by some mysterious brain disease, and they'd be pushing me out of there. I'd have no trouble doing that now whatsoever.

Sometimes ya gotta fight crazy with crazy.

Reminds me of the South Park episode where they took a "free" ski vacation. Zounds, that was funny.

Now, with cell phones so prevalent, you could just get someone to call you about 30 minutes into the presentation with "news" that your brother had just been killed, or some such (I wouldn't advise tempting fate if you actually HAVE a brother; change to an imaginary relative or imaginary malady). THEN start your screaming and wailing.

Bonus: I bet you wouldn't be the first to try this. They probably even have a "counter-tactic" to argue against that, which would make it all the more amusing, later.

I can see it now: You weepingly tell the sales-ogres that your beloved sibling has passed away and they immediately come back with: "But sir/ma'am, the best thing you can do in your grief is take a nice vacation!"

OK, I'm scaring myself now...

Yes, and what I have heard (from an independent sales person who tries to get people into the TS "giveaways") is that now they are taking "special steps" to try to identify people who are just there for the "giveaway"; and if they think you are trying to get through the "presentation" too fast or if they think you are not interested in buying (and it's obvious) they will now say "we will have to reschedule the presentation" and threaten you with not getting the "giveaway" unless you give them whatever time they demand and pretend to be interested. I did one several years ago and after talking to him about how he operates, I would not do another one.
