Not to mention you go in for a $300 service and they try to sell you additional crap on top of that! Ugh.
Its funny how bipolar the car business is ... Honda builds some of the best cars in the business but gets raked for customer service. Saturn, on the other hand, has product that's often average but much better cust sat reports.

At the cost savings the OP has using the "non dealership" location, they can buy a few locks if they don't last long. However, the lock was probably OE to begin with and didn't last long for whatever reason!

Just a quick reply, but dealers are generally way higher than anybody else and astronomically higher than doing it yourself.

case in point: i do all my axle/transfer case fluids myself in my nissan. took me about 2 hours in my garage from start to done with cleanup. Parts (fluid and washers) maybe $20.00.

They quoted me $300.00 to do the same job.

Yes, they rip off BUT they can cause people will pay it because most people don't work on their own cars any longer. I do. Even though Imake decent money, I don't make ~$100/hour and I enjoy doing the job right- who knows what they might mess up - and charge you later for- if they do it..

warranty work here only for dealer stuff...
