IQ test? I bet the proposed questions on that test would make an interesting thread here ...
I seem to remember back in the late seventies/early eighties that the local community used to claim that the RTP area had the highest per capita of Phd degreed individuals in the country.

The article says, "Raleigh-Durham has just about every intangible useful in attracting and developing a smart populace".
Doesn't this suggest that is the transplants that are bringing the IQ?
As a transplant with a Ph.D. and a husband with a Master's, I like to think we bring an IQ point or two to the area. That being said, I sincerely hope it's our work ethic, commitment to volunteering in our community, and good parenting that makes us welcome here

Not really; it suggests that transplants are being ATTRACTED and DEVELOPED by the IQ factor.
They've been saying that this area is one of the most educated in the country since at least the '70s--sorry, LONGISLAND, you can't personally take credit for it.
