My husband and I just moved down here from Buffalo - loving the south so far! One problem, though - insects. We're not used to dealing with this warmer weather and the bugs it brings. I've noticed ants and quite a few spiders around the house. Know of a good exterminator in Chapel Hill I should call?

I'm kind of wary of harsh chemicals/pesticides, too (we have kids and dogs). Any suggestions?

I have used Smith Exterminating for a while, and my dad has used them for 20+ years. They are great.

You might also want to try Rid a Pest in Wilson, they are great but I don't think they service Chapel Hill.

Not sure how bad your bug problem is but before spending a great deal of money on professional service try using OTC products on your own and read up on home remedies. Mostly you are paying for truck and transportation and not necessarily better killing insecticides. Also humidity and bugs are a common complaint from new transplants which makes me think NC is the only state in the union with bugs!. Get used to them, really. Now that we are in this cold snap you might not need anything more than a can of Raid. At least not till spring and summer. Check archives for threads on insects in NC. It is a common topic on here. Welcome....
