North Carolina keeps a list the market rate of childcare that they update every few years. (They use the averages when computing child care subsidies.) They just updated the rates this past January. The data is broken out by county, provider type, child age, and license rating. So for example, in Wake county, the monthly rate for a 3-5 year old at a 5-star licensed child care center is $809. You can also look up any licensed provider on the DHHS website to see if they've had problems reported during visits by the Division of Child Development.

I will remind you that each Goddard is independently owned and prices may vary. Quality of care and teacher tenure is another factor. We pulled our child out of Goddard after a short time because of the way it was run and the fact that they could not keep employees. I will not publicly name the location-if you wish to know you may pm me.

We pulled a child out too recently (in Cary). Do not be fooled for one second by the price tag and the thought that "you get what you pay for". It was a terrible exoerience and my only regret is that we didn't do it sooner. feel free to pm for specifics but most of the negative reviews on Yelp are pretty accurate in our experience.,
