I can't seem to find a definitive answer on this. Is there even one or is it still up for grabs. Is there going to be one between the current 55 exit and the one planned (I think) for High House?
There is a tentative plan on creating a exit off of the future Morrisville parkway extension. At one point Town of cary had plans to complete Morrisville Parkway extension west of 55 before I-540 constructions starts and get an exit on Morrisville parkway. I am not sure what happened to that when 540 became toll road.

As far as I know, they are still planning for a 540/Morrisville Pkwy interchange in the future, but it's not part of the initial 540 construction project and thus will have to be a later addition if Cary can get its act together to extend Morrisville Pkwy out that far.
Has anyone been able to find proposed maps/exit lists on the section from Holly Springs to Knightdale that probably won't come along until my great-grandkids are married?
Obviously things are still much more up in the air, but for at least the southern section, I've heard proposed definite exits at Holly Springs Rd., 401, 50, and 40. I think there were also proposed exits at Bells Lake Rd. and Old Stage Rd., but that may have been revisited since the shift to tolling. Or they may be future exits...not sure.
I don't know about exits on the eastern section between 40 and Knightdale.
