Okay so hopefully I will be graduating in the summer as an LPN. I want to move to the Wake County area. It has been a dream for some time. I know I am so so sad. But compared to living in the country all my live it's exciting for me.

I was curious about the LPNs that work in the area. How's the job market? Is it possible for a newbie LPN snag a job in the area and be able to live in a safe area (with a good school system) without having to work 80 hours a week?

Will I have any chance of working outside of long-term care as an LPN?

I am an LPN at a local specialty clinic. From my experience in my job hunt (which was almost a year ago now) most LPN jobs are actually at clinics (family practice, pediatric, etc). Of course the money is in LTC however there are a few jobs to be found with clinics within one of the local hospital systems that will pay more than some offices. Those are few and far between though and from what I can tell very difficult to get. There is also the VA in Durham, they hire LPN's. But if you are looking for a regular 9-5 your best bet is at a doctor's office or clinic. Don't forget about urgent care as well! Good luck!
