My 9 year old son is having some behavioral issues lately, and I can't seem to get to the bottom of what's going on, and it has been recommended to me that he see a counselor or psychologist so that he has someone nonbiased to talk to. The thing is I want to make sure he goes to a good one, and if anyone has a suggestion for one in the Cary/Apex/Holly Springs area I'd appreciate it! Also if you could post the cost per session, that would be helpful in deciding

Peak Development Associates | Carrie Dittner, PhD | Anne-Marie Turnier, MD | Katherine Hutchinson, PhD | David FitzGerald, PhD

You can call directly to ask about cost and insurance. They also have a male counselor on staff if that makes your son feel more comfortable. They are located in a renovated bungalow downtown Apex. It does not have that "dr's office" feel.

We used Dr Fitzgerald for our kindergarten-aged son. Expensive and they do not take insurance. I think that we paid close to $600 total for 2 sessions, one of them being diagnostic which took a few hours.

Yeah. Our neither. Luckily my company funds an HSA for me and we paid for it out of that.

For what it's worth, it didn't help. We now have a diagnosis and a sheet of paper from a doctor which states it, but he's still acting out in school even with implementing the doctor's suggestions.

They do not file insurance. But your insurance company may reimburse you. I think Cigna or BCBS does. I can't remember which one. Just because they don't file doesn't mean insurance isn't accepted.

Ah yes, sorry. That's true. They do not file insurance is what I intended to say. Big difference.

There is also 3-C Family Services

My daughter went to a social skills group here. I can't tell you about their counseling. But I have heard they also don't file insurance for you.
