Hi mods, if this is against the TOS for whatever reason, I will delete it. I have a friend of a friend who is looking for suggestions about where to live near Duke while getting treatment for cystic fibrosis. She is looking for free or low cost housing for 6 months. Here's her story:
Jessica is going to have a double lung transplant because of the issues she has with Cystic Fibrosis. She is going to Duke to have the surgery done. Jessica and her family are looking for a place to stay during the possible 6 months that they will need to be there. She is too old for Ronald McDonald house and they are looking for an apartment/condo that has a kitchen so they can cook their own meals. She has no health insurance as she is 26 years old and unable to work. Her mother Judy works for a hospital as a tech, but her husband was recently laid off from his job.

If anyone has any possible place that Jessica, Judy and Paul (her husband) can stay during this very difficult time, we would all really appreciate it. The timing is still a bit up in the air, but it will probably happen within the next 6 months.

I appreciate anything you might be able to do or help us with in this endeavour.

Have you tried asking the folks at Duke? A while ago, I found the appropriate phone number on their web page. You might want to call the main information number and explain your needs. Many people have similar requests.
