OK as I drive on highway 98 from Wake Forest to Durham there is a small hill west of Thomson Mill rd north of the highway where I occasionally see cars parked and peole digging in the rocks. Does anyone know what they are digging for? I am guessing fossils, indian artifacts or some kind of rocks.
I have many handfuls of garnet from that site- such fun! Bought a pick purposely for that site, but didn't have the heart to break the rocks- there were enough garnets from other people's digging...enjoy!
