My daughter works in a nearby store. She had been texting me before we found out what it was. I think she's a bit nervous, and I can certainly understand why.
WRAL news just updated - a female employee was shot and the shooter was shot and killed. Starting to sound more like a targeted domestic thing. Similar to the one in the Duke clinic a few weeks ago.
I was stuck there--- there were a lot of rumors, shooter having people stuck in a meat locker. Someone told me she thought the shooter had yelled out for everyone to get the F out of the store.. but she didnt know if it was the shooter or not who had yelled that.
This is terrible! And all of beaver creek evacuated? That must have been hundreds of people!
I think just the Target and Lowes were evacuated. My daughter's workplace was not. She did say they had closed off the main entrance off Hwy. 55, so I don't know if that's open now or not. There is an entrance off 64 if anyone is going to those businesses (where the movie theater is). That was not closed.
Wow, eerie deja vu of another well-known shooting at a Triangle shopping center on a different Memorial Day, that one at North Hills (Mall) in 1972 (in that one, 4 were killed plus the shooter, by his own hand). It made national news as I imagine this one will.
I'm glad the murderer is dead, but that had to be traumatic to all nearby.
