I drive on Catron Blvd almost every day either going to or coming home from work and they finally opened all the lanes on one side of the road. It looks like they are starting to do something where everyone says this Walmart is going to be!

They are having to do a lot of site preperation to make it wal-mart ready. They had to do a lot of cutting and filling of soil to get it graded, looks like several high retaining walls to hold it all in place.

There still isn't much to see. If I go past it I will.
These are older articles from the RC Journal but they expand a little on what's already been shared about the new Walmart. We drive past the site every week or two and it's progressing quickly. I was surprised to hear the store isn't opening until August. The parking lot is looking done & there's already a huge stretch of wall up.
We quit shopping at Walmart a year ago since it's so crowded and run down. Coming up from Hill City to do our shopping, this new Walmart might entice out business back.

They had to move a large amount of dirt to make the site usable.
There has to be foundations poured... Flat work done, walls set. roof trusses and roof... HVAC, electrical plumbing et. al.
Once the building is done the store needs to be set that takes fair amount of time.
