Hi,

We'll be in the Rapid City area for a couple days around the beginning of August and wondered if anyone can point us to restaurants that have some healthy eating options. It's always harder to eat healthy when traveling, but we want to try.

Do any of the health food markets in Rapid City make sandwiches or anything you could take out? Thanks for any advice!

I would recommend both Everest Cuisine and Katmandu Bistro. They are both Indian/Nepalese restaurants with lots of vegetarian options.

Gyro Hub is a newish Mediterranean restaurant in town and is a relatively healthy option, it also has a fair amount of vegetarian choices.

Kol is another good choice for healthy options downtown. They cook everything is a coal fired oven and have kebabs, veggie dishes, and amazing thin crust pizza.

Breadroot Coop is our local natural food stores but I don't believe they have much in the way of ready to eat options. They do have lots of organic fruits, veggies, and bulk foods.

Hope that helps, enjoy your visit.

Sounds like some good ideas. Thanks.

Any ideas on a good sandwich place if we need to pick some up on the fly?

One of my favorite local sandwich shops is Hippo Steve Pastiche. It's right in downtown. The bread on their sandwiches is a bit on the thick side, but that's because they make it in house. There's also a Pita Pit downtown that has healthy options. If I'm truly in a hurry Jimmy Johns makes a pretty good sub in no time.

Hippo Steve's was going to be my suggestion.
