The one at Sheridan Lake the two parties knew each other if I read the story correctly. The second inside Rapid City (the only two this year in Rapid area this year)

The Sheridan Lake murder was most definitely a domestic issue. It was over a past business
porposition that went bad. Been festering for a long time.

I hosestly do not feel you would have any problem living in Rapid, especially South, East or West.
Been here 20 years+ and no problem. Be glad to have your family join us.

I agree completely. I grew up here and I've NEVER been a victim of crime at all. My mother hasn't either and she's a 5'5" 120lb woman. She's never even been harassed. I'm sure you'll find some people that have their stories but really the vast majority is pretty normal.

I feel better!

Sheridan Lake? That' hard to believe!

Like you all said (North side) , I won't be living anywhere near the North side. Here in Philly, it's everywhere, not just a few neighborhoods.

Kwame - the closest u'll see to any real gangs around here, would be the potential for a MS13 trafficking related stop along I-90 in Rapid, but I don't think that happens very often (I've lived here for a year and haven't heard of any, and MS13 would definitely peak my attention, after spending 15 years in Phx!), and the talk of the Hells Angels every year around the Sturgis Rally. But, Hell's Angels have specific targets, and MS13 wouldn't bother to lay down any real roots in a town this small, and this far in the middle of nowhere.

It's definitely a good choice if you're looking to get away from gangs and violence - I worked in law enforcement (RICO) back in Phx, and this place is definitely just as "nice" as the vibes you have already gotten!

Except for the poor lady of 80 plus yrs old whose house was broken into by a guy from the rez. She was raped, and her throat slit. They didn't know each other. I live in RC.

There was a 100% jump in homicides from 2019 to 2020, and between 40 to 48% jump in most other violent crimes. Here is my source from the RC police dept. So any stats that are from earlier years will look better. I had to dig to find these.

Another interesting source. I realize RC is safer than where the OP is from, but still the crime rate here is very high for the citie's size.
