Hi;

Does the MLS allow anyone to see all the new listings an agent receives & sells? Or is this information restricted/blocked?

The general public has NO access to the MLS. Only Realtors. Generally, it does not matter one bit whether the listing agent sells his own listings. MLS is all about agents cooperating with each other.

If you want access to the MLS, get your real estate license, pass the exams, pay for maybe 120 hours of education about real estate, pay for all the MLS and Realtor fees up front. Get inducted as a Realtor, learn the Code of Ethics forward and backwards. Pay all monthly, yearly and listing fees; pay for your lockboxes up front, pay for your monthly digital access to the lockboxes, pay for continuing education twice a year or more, and on and on and on.

Then you can look up almost anything you want on the MLS.

Thanks! If I have access to the MLS (as a realtor) can I see all the new listings an agent receives & sells? Or can only the agents involved in the deal see this information?

Ask your MLS. It could be different in different MLS's.

With ours (MRIS) you can search agent history. I have an auto email setup for myself so I can keep track of what I've done.

Our MLS allows agents to only lookup sales with the current company, so if an agents changes brokerages, you can't look up those old sales.

My MLS allows for all sorts of agent DNA searches, agent board ID and name are the most common.
Agents switch real estate boards all the time, so the name is usually the best way to look for history. If it's a common name, name/current and prior brokerages does the trick.
We can go back into the early 80's.

Our MLS assigns a unique ID number to every agent or team. The ID number never changes even if you change offices. You can use this ID number as a search parameter as well.
