This morning I learned that an agent is stealing other agents Craigs List listings, removing the listing agents contact information and substituting his own.

What would you do in this case?

Craigslist has 32 whole employees.

I doubt any of them are lawyers.

I tried to alert them to some criminal behavior and never heard from them.

I'd think the agents who listings got stolen, could get their "closing lawyers" to contact the thief and threaten legal action. The thief has a phone and location listed on the stolen listings, right? Have a lawyer knock on the idiot's door.

IN addition to having a lawyer contact them, I would also post a message on Craigslist with the agent's info and let the world know they are a thief.

One of my listings was stolen. That's how I discovered it. I researched and found that he has stolen many more. I'm in the process of deciding how to handle it for maximum effectiveness.

Isn't this what IDX is all about ? There are literally hundreds of broker ads on craigslist in my area promoted by other firms... only when you go to their website is it in itty bitty wording that says "listing courtesy of xyz realty". Don't bother contacting craigslist - they could care less.

Take screen shots and file a complaint with the real estate commission. Out here it is a no brainer. You can't advertise another agent's listings without their permission. IDX is permission as long as the feed stays intact. Here you can't link to other agents listings on FB, Twitter, post them on CL, etc.

Is he an MLS member? That would be my first thought.

IDX shows who the listing agent is.

One agent cannot take another agents listing and remove the listing agents contact information and put their own. The only way an agent can promote another listing with their contact info and not the listing agent is with written permission.

Agents place ads on Craigs List so prospects will call the listing agent; not someone who has removed their name and substituted their own info.
