To all of you Real Estate Professionals - What is it that you find most important in working with Lending Partners, whether it's a bank, a Loan Officer, etc.? What is most annoying about dealing with these people? What is it you need and want that you wish you were getting from your Lending Partners? I'm looking for advice from you all on how I may better approach and service Real Estate Agents, so no holding back... Thanks!
Honesty first..Experience second..Professionalism third
First and foremost is honesty. I have had too many lenders say that everything is just fine only to renege when it came time to perform.
Second is experience, especially with affordable housing and first time homebuyers. IMO, too many lenders are afraid of what they don't understand. I've known lenders to tell buyers they can't afford to buy homes (when in fact they can and did).
Third is professionalism. I would like the lender to be present at closing. In one case, a lender saved a potentially delayed closing because of an underwriter misunderstanding. I hardly ever see the lender and it's often difficult to get them to return my calls. It takes everyone working together with open communication lines to make a successful transaction.
I have had many, many positive experiences with lenders and these are the qualities that made a difference to me.

My lending partner is just that, a partner. When I hand the borrower off to him, I never have to worry about another thing. If there's a glitch, I'm the second one to know it, the buyer is first. I'm informed of all communications between the lender and the buyer. He's the only business affiliate I'm thinking about giving a Christmas gift to. He's awesome!
