Buyer was the guy who was mowing our lawn; I suspect he was the only looker who realized the second lot actually came with the house, as the realtors didn't quite convey that information! Local, young, married, baby, currently living with family and working in the family business; family also moved them, will do "renos," and floated them the down payment. You know how parents are today (eye roll), but thank goodness! They LOVE the house and feel very lucky to have such a "mansion"; not worried about the neighbors, as they're not very hoity-toity themselves (blue collar). They got us down another $5k from what we thought would be our rock-bottom price, but it was our only offer in a year with winter coming, so... Absolutely no issues with the FHA appraisal; maybe they know someone?
Congratulations. I just read this entire thread and was wondering what was the difference in price from when you listed the house at the beginning of this thread and what it sold for?
Originally priced (by the first realtor) at $124k because that's what it easily what it would've gone for before the 'hood started going down. Because it had, however (and continues to), we ended up giving it away for just $80k. Yes, I had to twist the co-owner's arm to accept that! However, as someone here pointed out, it was all "found money" to my brother and me (we didn't buy the house), so whatever. At least it's behind us, and we're very happy that it's a hardworking young family who will make it a real home and love it for many years to come versus it being auctioned or becoming abused rental property.
