Is it a smart career choice? How hard is it to pass exams? Tell me all you know for a newbie looking into real estate sales.
I did not find the classes or exams to be very difficult.
I think that we will always have demand for basic human needs: food, clothing, medical care, and shelter.
Carving out a good niche in any of those areas will always put the service provider in demand.
If you get into real estate work, be sure to affiliate with a firm that will help you develop, offering guidance, additional training, support, and help with your business plan and budgeting.
Companies used to tell the newbies not to count on ANY INCOME for at least 6 months.
I had a client 3 years ago, who became a friend. In January, she decided to become a Real Estate Agent. NOT the best timing, I must admit.
Almost a year later, she has had TWO SALES. Luckily for her, she was smart and had saved enough to keep her going for a year (she is single). I also advised her to start her Real Estate career, part time, while she kept her well paying full time job. Unfortunately, she did not take my advice. She is hanging in there, determined to get her Real Estate career started but is now considering a part time job.
For those of us that have been in the business for a long time, we rely on our past clients to continue to send us referrals.
You've got to be kidding? With the economy and the market in the shape it's in, you're considering real estate? Do you mean on a volunteer basis, or are you actually hoping to make money at it? ;-)

Not only do I agree with the above post, but there are as many real estate agents as lawyers. Isn't the industry saturated enough already? How can there be enough sales to go around for everyone?
ok thanks for the advice guys. I will consider other career options. Any ideas?
