With metro Atlanta home values plunging by about one-third in five years, some owners are finding ways to add value to their neighborhoods.
Larry Carter took the prerogative to turn around the downtown Atlanta community he bought into by getting neighbors to help clean up dilapidated properties and help real estate agents with open houses so values would not keep dropping.
Great post John1960. I can relate to this article as its something that I think will catch on with the newer generation of homeowner.
This type of grassroots movement seems like where we left off just after WWII. It seems we have lost our way in regards to what a community truly means to the people that live in it.
Pride in ownership should never be marginalized. Unfortunately that type of mentality isnt for everyone, hence the need for HOA communities where safety and predictability are the selling points. Hopefully they are setting an example to others and even if not, at least they are inspired to keep the area looking nice.
