For me, sitting on the other side of the table, I'm not sure how the claimants and respondents feel during the hearing. You should expect to be there several hours. We had one hearing that should have been open and shut in 30 minutes, and we were there over 4 hours. I had another one that I planned on a couple of hours and we were there for over 8 hours.
Experiences will different if you are by yourself or if you're bringing an attorney, and whether the agent brings an attorney. It's not back and forth. It's opening statements, the claimant tells his story, the respondent asks claimant questions, then the panel gets to ask the claimant questions. Then it's the respondent's story, the claimant asks questions, and then the panel asks questions.
If it's long and complicated, they will break for lunch and bring everyone back in. The panel will sit there quietly and watch everyone and their reactions. Your body language is important. Rolling your eyes if not good. Crossing your arms and looking bitter is not good.
I'm not sure what you mean by "all paper", but you should have every single email ever sent back and forth and text messages, and phone records. You never know what you'll need when the other side gets talking about calls and emails back and forth.
All panels should be the same across all the states as the Code of Ethics is from the NATIONAL Association of Realtors.
Fascinating. As I read, I was going to say expect more lies. And there was your following post. Yes, there are people like this around. Fortunately, I haven't personally dealt with many.
Tomorrow's the big day. Any last minute advice? Thanks all...I'm nervous as I'm not one the likes confrontation, and the gal will be bringing her broker who will probably be an a$$ to me.

Well, it's done and I will have to see what the committee decides. I hope they are fair, it always seems sketchy when someone is being judged by their peers.
The agent lied over and over again under oath. So many lies. I had my documentation pulled together. She kept saying I was a hostile client, I guess that' what you call a client that files a complaint against you. She tried t claim it was all a personal attack, I was defaming her, etc. I know it's not defamation when it's the truth.
I have posted a Yelp review that is honest, and clear that she is dishonest, unknowledgeable, unprofessional and immature. If one Google's her name it comes up as the second item.
I will let you all know in a few weeks what the final decision is. Thanks for everyone's help here. I'm so glad I found CD, as you have given me great advice on the board and in private messages.
