How long does it take for a lawyer to send the closing statements? In the past, I think I did receive them about 2 months after the deal was done. I sold a home in april and another one in july and still havent received the closing statements from the lawyer. I have asked for them several times and the last excuse was that he wanted to get them typed

Did you not sign a closing statement at closing? Why did you leave without a copy? Maybe you're talking about something else, but in Texas, the closing statement is the HUD-1 and it's already typed at closing.

In Florida, the HUD-1 is presented at the closing to the buyer and presented to the agents a few hours before the closing for it to be reviewed prior to closing. Something sounds strange.

Same here. We get the closing statement about 24 hours before signing to confirm it is accurate.

OP if the buyer of your home had a loan then a closing statement, called the HUD-1, has already been completed before closing. The lender reviews that statement for accuracy prior to releasing funds.

If you had a listing agent they have a copy. If not you have to deal with the attorney but you should have walked out with a copy the day of closing. In the future be sure to confirm with attorney that you will walk out with copies the day of closing before signing anything.

I didnt get them at the closing as the Lawyer said he wanted to make copies and would send them to me. I have asked him many times and he keeps saying he wants to have them typed up as they look nicer!!

Default missing closing statements

Were the homes sold as commercial property or residential?
Did a business or government buy them?

How many real estate agents were involved in each deal?

Did the buyer(s) get a mortgage?

What did you sign if it wasn't already typed up? The HUD-1 is a spreadsheet that numbers are put into that calculates all the fees and such. I've never seen one handwritten. Why would you sign something not already "official looking"?

It sounds like your lawyer didn't do his job. Closing statements should have been completed before the closing so you could review them...and then signed at the closing. When I'm involved in a closing here in Michigan, closing statements are usually distributed to all parties several days before the closing.

Wait, what? The HUD-1 (closing statement) is already typed on a government form and all parties to the closing sign it. You don't want a freshly typed copy, you want your copy of the one that you signed!

Tell him you don't want it typed up pretty, you want a copy of the original.
