Personally I would not look at a home with a door that had any color outside of natural wood for the front door.
I myself think it takes away the focus on the home itself and brings the focus to the door only.
I'm not buying just the door, I am buying the entire home so the color of the outside of the home is a big issue for me.
I like a soft very light gray but prefer white with a black roof, black shutters (if they are present) and a natural wood or white door.
That makes the focus the entire home not just the porch and the door.
My old house was white, with an emerald green trim and door. I wanted forest green, but the paint chip didn't quite match the actual paint color. I got tons of compliments from neighbors and friends, and it was easy decorating for Christmas.

I like this idea for the OP; no doubt it looks fantastic on your house.
Gosh, really? I've mentioned in other threads that I have zero artistic ability and vision, which can make it hard for me to see the "potential" in some houses with crazy wallpaper/paint, though I do try. That being said -- the color of the front door would be such a non-issue for me, I don't even think I'd give it more than a passing thought. Even I know how quickly and easily that can be painted. My mother-in-law went through a spell a few years back where she couldn't settle on the color of her front door, so she painted it 3-4 times within 2 weeks, and it took her less than an hour each time to do.
I understand that first impressions and curb appeal are important, but if the paint is nicely done, and the rest of your house's exterior is well maintained and polished, I see no problem here, even for the biggest red haters.
I've always loved red doors. My Dad painted our door red when I was a little girl. It was a cooler red... but very glossy and I loved how the oil paint smelled.
Did you know red doors have meaning?
1). In Feng Shui, red doors have a welcome vibe.
2). Red doors mean protection. This is taken from the Biblical times when the children of Israel smeared blood on their door so the angel of death would pass by. (Passover)
3). The Scots had a tradition that a red door meant the mortgage was paid off.
Most people who paint their doors red do it because they like it, but they have a reputation of
helping a home sell faster.
Here are some pics of front doors with various colors.
Weird. I'd be put off by it. I've seen it done with purple, and other non-natural colors and it always throws me. Although to be fair im thinking about painting mine blue.
