Objective facts.

You came home.

Your home was vandalized as evidenced by the destruction of the speaker.

Call the police. Say you looked around carefully and nothing else was damaged...if that's the case.

Give names of who was in your house. With their numbers is you have them.

Hopefully it's a high enough amount of loss and a slow enough day for the officer to make some calls.

After the officer leaves call whoever you already called to let them know it's with the police now. And when you find out who it was, since it took so long and no one owned up, you will contact the real estate authorities about this great breach of ethics.

It's amazing how much group pressure can bring out the real culprit. The realtors who know for sure it wasn't their groups can compare notes and bring pressure on the one it seems to be. It may also be one of them is known for being somewhat careless in his/her work.
I like your concept.

Sounds good but I doubt very seriously the police will investigate damaged speakers. When my house was broken in to the police took a report. End of story.

Actually the police will invite you to come down to police headquarters to file a report. The chances of them actually showing up at your home are just slightly higher than Obama showing up at your home.

Depends on how small the town is. What town are these speakers in?

Obama just dropped in, knocked on my door... I told hem I couldn't take him now because I was busy dealing with recalcitrant tenants, but he could have his people call my people and maybe I could see him next week or maybe next month at the very latest. Okay, honestly I can't assure him of an appointment until after the November elections.

Meanwhile I've had an insatiable desire for Canard à l'Orange. Did you know that Asians break the duck's legs before cooking, in order to prevent shrinkage distorting the legs?

What is the French word for "lame?" Meanwhile -- and I swear this is the truth -- I just took a frozen duck out of my freezer for dinner tomorrow. It's a supermarket duck so it probably doesn't have broken legs.

Unlike other lame ducks I'm familiar with.
