Real estate markets are local. No one can answer questions about your specific market, as we don't know where it is. In general though there are more buyers in the spring than during the height of the holiday seasons.

Winter is always traditionally the slowest time of year. People are busy with their holiday shopping and spending time with kids. Spring is traditionally the busiest time as people are wanting to get settled into their homes for the summer and the start of the next school year.

Post this on your local forum. You'll get way more appropriate answers. I know in my market there are both more houses and more buyers, so while the competition for one particular house is stiffer in the spring the competition for a house is probably not as strong.

good distinction.

While it may be slower now, it could be just as slow in the spring when there are many more homes to choose from.

When more homes like yours come on the market in Spring, will you be willing to drop your price?

More people will be shopping, but more people will be selling too.

The real estate market fluctuates, and no one can tell the future. It's all about supply and demand, and who knows what that curve is going to look like.
The only thing you can do is to properly price your home, and keep an eye on the market.

Conversely, down here, the market picks up during the winter and spring, slows in the summer and fall.

The spring season or spring time is known to be the busiest time of the year in the real estate industry. In this season you will see the dramatic increase in the number of homes hitting to the market. There is also increase in the large number of potential home buyers. That's why it can be seen that buying a house in the spring season is more competitive.
