How long has it been on the market? How long do comps in the area typically last? Is it a desirable home that shows well?
It is completely possible that there is another offer. Your agent knew you were interested so it's common that they notify you about the other offer to see if you want in. The biggest question being is this a home you think you could really want and will you be upset if you lose it?
Thanks for the answers. I just felt that timing and pressure were a little strange as I thought the ball was in their court to get us access to the area of the house we couldn't see and the lack of disclosure and wanted an idea of what others thought.
I know years ago before the bubble people were lined up to get a chance to bid on houses that cost more than anyone here could imagine but lately they have gone up but barely so this sort of surprised me. I think its a great house but don't want to be pushed until we have all the facts.
Multiple offers mean more money for the sellers. It could be the agent's way to drive up the price on an otherwise low offer.
I would tell them that I would be happy to consider an offer but first I need my questions answered, the disclosure documents, and to be able to see 100% of the property. If they wait for you, the other offer sucks.
