The only thing I can think of without going to the source of the information (an agent who subscribes to the MLS and has the information) is to visit a neighborhood containing a house you think the agent did a good job with - and ask the next door neighbor. That neighbor will know the listing agent's name of course, but will be unlikely to know the name of the agent who brought the buyer...
I actually think there are better ways to find an agent, but I'm trying to answer your question directly...
You may want to look at the nearby thread which discusses the availability of MLS data.
This is a very difficult task and you may still not get the information you are requiring. The listing to sold price may show a 95%, but the original listing price may have been much higher and may have not been marketed properly.
Also, the sold price will not reflect any seller incentives such as dollar contribution to buyer closing cost.
This is not a method that I would use to choose an agent. I chose an agent to sell my CA home while I'm in AZ, and I wouldn't have even considered using that method. I chose the agent that I felt had the best marketing plan and negotiating skills.
Unfortunately the only way to find out such information is get access to the MLS in your area. Either you would have to find a realtor willing to give such information, Or you have to ask the new owners of the homes that have sold in your neighborhood.
thanks for replies! as a seller, i still like the idea of looking at solds and seeing who got the best prices for similar property. i will try to find out. good luck all.
