Wow is right. Seems it's decorated like you'd see in a much more expensive home, not a 139k condo! The sellers should realize that less is more when selling..
I would redo the kitchen, and the murals, and wouldn't touch any of the rest of it. It has its own character and I actually think its well done, if not to a traditional taste.
They should create a fun listings sub category. It would be at least as popular as some of the city subcategories we have many which go a week without a reply.
I had to reset my monitor -- between the velour, mirrors and the murals everything looks like it set to "soft focus".
This sort of situation is NOT going to make for any easy sell -- it is far too personalized. I disagree with this being "well done", many of the photographers were massively over processed and look more "court room sketches" than anything that will be helpful to buyers trying to get a sense for the size of the rooms.
I would frankly worry that even a buyer that likes some of the "design ideas" would be unable to see past things that will be removed and what will stay -- there are so many layers of draperies, wall hangings, and plants / greenery that it likely would take months to get into standard "broom clean" configuration for the closing.
The jolt of seeing a "regular" little patio with a grill and table makes this seem like some "hidden secret" and not is good way, but almost like a peek into obsession bordering on madness. It frankly makes me feel sad / concerned that this was a multi-decade project that maybe is being cut short by something tragic. I mean, you'd think if the seller was willingly either downsizing or moving up they would have considered paring things back instead of having that set like a museum / final showing.
I will say that it does look SPOTLESS with not a single personal photograph, magazine, or other identifying item anywhere to be seen. There appears to be a rather old CRT perched atop the closet opposite the bed, which gives a hint as to how long the collection has been growing.
One thing is for certain -- this took LOTS of work. Keeping things clean and with literally not a speck of dust or smudge must require constant effort. I can't tell whether the cat on the bed is real or some sort of pillow / toy, but either way there appears to be no a trace of any errant fur, which when you consider all the fabrics and carpets must mean they is a ample supply of lint rollers tucked away in the place...
If anybody finds out more about this I sincerely hope there is a nothing tragic about the situation.
Bigger than the square footage? I would say the opposite--the bizarro decorations make the rooms look smaller than they probably are. The only two thoughts in my mind as a potential buyer would be 1. how much would it cost to undo all that? and 2. No way.
