It's like opening a time capsule and finding a 40 year old Big Mac. It may be vintage but you don't want to touch it.

Sorry, you are wrong about that.
Big Mac does NOT change with time. It would not rot/decompose, as no bacteria/fungus will touch it. A friend of mine tested this item for a year: no change, what so ever...

That is creepy. Unless they had a for sale sign up front I would think I was at the wrong house or they listed the wrong info.

There were several for-sale signs in front.

You're entitled to your opinion, of course. But the house was on the market and open house was indicated on the listing.

If we had randomly walked into someone's house because we wanted to see the inside, yes, that would be creepy. But assuming that was the homeowner we encountered -- we still don't know for sure -- their beef should be with whoever put the open house designation on Trulia. Not us.

At any rate, it doesn't matter. We made an offer today and it's been accepted.

This right here. SO many things could go wrong from both sides.

When selling a property from my mom's estate the realtor advertised an open house, but the house was already in escrow by the time the date came. Newspaper ads were placed a week earlier.

I was at the house that day doing something and soooo many people showed up for the open house. I felt sorry for them as they were really interested, but also happy with the buyer, a vet, getting the house

Houses went fast in that neighborhood--both of my moms houses were under contract within 5 days of listing.

Congrats on finding your place!

P.S. I don't think its that creepy. For sale sign, advertised open house and open door.......what if the agent was in there and had a heart attack?

if there's an Open House sign out front, and the door is unlocked, it's an open house.
