We do as do several of our neighbors. The water comes from a dug 12’ deep well next to the creek whose flow dries up in August, earlier if it has been a dry summer like it has been lately. We had to install several storage tanks due to drier weather. We also had an ozone water filter installed due to non-specific e-coli when it was tested. The water has always been very tasty and cold. If not filtered with carbon filter, it can turn brown from the leaves in the fall. The stream winds its way through mixed woods so is fairly sheltered.
Many of our neighbors in this rural area have had to resort to water collection systems which are allowed in Washington. There is just no water where we live except for a few artesian wells which have run dry due to development. They had to add storage tanks as, of course, do the ones with the collection system. A few years ago, two 2200 gallon concrete tanks plus installation was $8,000. The ozone system was $4,000. Not cheap but the city water is excessively chlorinated and we are about a mile from the hookups.
