Have you talked to your landlord to find out of the house is really for sale? Maybe the guy who came to the door was a scammer who just wanted into the house. Or maybe a scammer advertised the house for sale on Craigslist, but it really isn't. Is there not a "for sale" sign in the yard? I would be highly suspicious if a stranger came to my door and said it was for sale, but there was no sign in the yard and my landlord hadn't contacted me.
