I found this super easy recipe for pork bbq online and tried it out last night. It is the BEST bbq I've ever had! All I did was put a pork tenderloin in the crock pot and covered it in root beer (sounds weird, right). I cooked it all day on low for almost 12 hours, then I drained it, shredded it, and added in some Famous Dave's BBQ sauce. Delicious! I love when I find things that taste like they took all day to make, but really only took 10 minutes of effort. Just wanted to share.

Ingredients
  • 1 (2 pound) pork tenderloin
  • 1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle root beer
  • 1 (18 ounce) bottle your favorite barbecue sauce
  • 8 hamburger buns, split and lightly toasted
  1. Place the pork tenderloin in a slow cooker; pour the root beer over the meat. Cover and cook on low until well cooked and the pork shreds easily, 6 to 7 hours. Note: the actual length of time may vary according to individual slow cooker. Drain well. Stir in barbecue sauce. Serve over hamburger buns.

Making your own BBQ sauce would be even better. Just a suggestion. This sounds like something I'd like to make.I use my crock pot at least twice a month. Thanks for sharing.

I just got done eating this and it's good. (Yes diet root beer should also work).

The only small tenderloin package I could find was chops, so instead I used a 2lb butt roast. I also used about 20oz of root beer. I added salt and pepper while mixing in the BBQ sauce, still need to add more. I only mixed 3/4 of the sauce with the meat. After toasting the bun I added some meat, 2 pickles, and a little dab of the leftover sauce.

Next time I will add salt at the beginning and probably cook a jalapeno in with it. Easy good food here.

If you don't have root beer, you can substitute a can of cola.

You can also use a can of Dr. Pepper. I like Coke and Dr. Pepper. Each tastes a little bit different but they are both good.
