Last night for dinner I made red beans and rice. I chopped an onion, added some garlic, chili powder and red pepper flakes. I'd have put in cumin if I had it. After a few minutes I added in 3 cans of red beans...cooked 'em for about 20 minutes and ate them over rice. I had some leftover hot dogs, so I chopped up a couple and tossed them in, too.
Hello, this is the last forum I thought I'd be posting in because I am not a foodie, but I find myself in a bit of a financial pickle and have discovered how far rice can stretch, but I'm getting tired of: butter, cheese, soy sauce, and Campbell's soup.
Does anybody have some inexpensive ideas?
Thanks.
Put the ingredients you have in your pantry that you want to use in a web search with the word "recipe" included and you will come up with many recipes.
Another thing you might make with rice is Paella. Paella can be cost effective if you actually try to keep the costs down, but you can make Paella that has some expensive ingredients in it also. Check out some different recipes for this dish, there are many and they can be varied to suit your taste and budget.
