Any of your cake shops that sell decorating supplies will have it. About $13 for a 3 lb tub here in San Antonio at Lucy's Cake Shop. Just google your zip code and closest cake supply store and you should have no problem finding it.

Can't help you. I use butter to make butter cream frosting and filings for chocolates.

Why are you using shortening in buttercream?

If you use shortening, you can have fancier icing work. And it holds up to heat better.

I was thinking the same thing but didn't want to bite the bait.

Like I said, I use butter, but I figured that OP was cake decorating. I don't do any piped icing, so use the butter because it tastes a lot better. Decorated cakes can look gorgeous but they always taste like sugar and Crisco. Pretty but not tasty.

I'll decorate with nuts, fruit, shaved chocolate, or whipped cream. I like the looks of the cakes with real flowers, too.

Interesting; like grease + salt grease + sugar is also a great taste combo but of course Crisco has its own unique flavor.
