Ground Beef
Yellow Onions
Light Red Kidney Beans
Dark Red Kidney beans
Chili Powder
Water
When it is done simmering I add 1/2 stick of butter and serve after the butter has melted.

This is how we like our chili, mild seasoning, with beef and beans

I used to be a purist in using dried beans and chili powder. Then I tried the McCormick mix and liked it. I use it as the chili powder most times and include additional ingredients.

These are the ingredients used in the chili that I am currently munching on:

McCormick Hot Chili Mix
Round steak cut in cubes
2 Bay leaves
Cumin (to taste - about 2 teaspoons)
Fresh chopped garlic (4 small ones)
Fresh chopped onions (1/2 bulb)
Fresh oregano (1 teaspoon)
Kernels of corn from the cob (1/8 cup)
Yellow bell pepper
3/4 cup water
1 can of tomatoes plus juice
1 can of dark red kidney beans (drained)
1 can of pinto beans (drained)

I confess that I use 2 pkg. McCormick Original Chili mix, 1-2# of ground beef, a large can of crushed tomatoes, a small can of diced tomatoes, and 2 cans kidney beans with liquid. We like the flavor, and it's easy.

We make chili often, and use the following ingredients for the most part:

Ground grass-fed beef (or ground bison)
Chopped yellow onions
Chopped fresh Roma tomatoes (or vine tomatoes)
Minced fresh garlic
Penzeys chili powder
Penzeys ground chipotle
Penzeys ground cumin
Szeged Hungarian sweet paprika
Celery flakes

Brown the beef first, then sautée the onions until soft. Add the seasonings, then top off with the tomatoes and all their juices. Cover and simmer for at least two hours.

I would eat chili with corn or beans included that someone else made, but I don't put them in my own recipe. Want the star of the chili to be the beef.

Same here. I'm not a huge fan of beef. I like dark and light kidney beans and also black beans.

The last few years I have been making pumpkin chili with a smaller amount of beef:

1 lb. ground beef
1 large onion diced
1 green bell pepper, diced
2 cans beans, drained(kidney and black bean)
1-2 large cans diced tomatoes with juice
1/2 cup canned pumpkin puree
1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
1 tablespoon chili powder
water as needed
