I host a large Christmas party every year. Years ago someone gave me a punch bowl set. I have never used it! I plan to fix that this year.
I am looking for a tried and true recipe. I would like it to be non alcoholic as we have a lot of children attending but I want it to be upgradable for the adults. A punch where they can spike their own cup. I was hoping for something that could be mixed with prosecco. We could do a different alcohol I suppose. Big bonus points if it is made with ingredients that won't stain my rugs and funiture. Did I mention lots of kids?

why not make 2? Make one for kids and make one for adults only and put a sign on it. The only recipe I can think of is done with rainbow sherbet, orange juice and champagne or Prosecco (substituting Ginger ale for the kids) and you can add some fruit to it like orange slices and strawberries.
Spiking punch, as you described, is difficult because the entire idea of punch is that it is light and really almost non detectible. To add any alcohol to a punch cup would render it non punch if that makes sense. I would go with an alcoholic punch and have one of your many guests take turns standing by the punch bowl to keep watch if you believe the kids will be a problem. In addition, the little ones would have a problem getting the punch out of the bowl, so probably the teens are your problem. When we had large parties, the "kids" would disappear to one room away form the adults.
Maybe you could make a punch for the kids as well as foods they would like.
I don't see why adding prosecco to something light and fruity couldn't work.
Taking the Mimosa as inspiration, pulpless orange juice and orange slices seem natural. You need something else bubbly to thin it up for the kids, either 7-up or the more adult-friendly club soda. I would do some lemon slices as well and perhaps some strawberries, to make it really pretty.
