the original recipe calls for:
1 large (7 oz) plain Hershey bar
large tub Cool Whip
ready-made graham cracker pie crust...

however, I use 1 + 1/2 large (7 oz) Symphony bar instead (melts better & is smoother)
large tub Cool Whip
ready-made Oreo-style pie crust

melt the chocolate in a double-boiler;
immediately mix quickly into Cool Whip (don't mix it in the same pan because it won't get solid);
and pour into the pie crust.
add some shaved chocolate bar on top.
chill for a few hours.

very easy to make, & I've never known anyone who didn't love it. it's a standard at our holiday dinners

Never thought of melted chocolate and dream whip. OMG.

Here's one with no cooking at all. Great at summer barbecues:

8 ounces of Cool Whip
16 ounces Strawberry yogurt
A graham cracker crust

Fold together the yogurt and Dream Whip. Don't stir too hard, or you'll have soup. Put mixture in pie crust, smooth down and freeze for at least 4 hours. Overnight is good also. Garnish with fresh strawberries. Serve.

You can use any flavor yogurt and fruit for topping.
