The woman inserts the latex condom like a tampon. Jagged rows of teeth-like hooks line its inside and attach on a man's penis during penetration, Ehlers said. Once it lodges, only a doctor can remove it -- a procedure Ehlers hopes will be done with authorities on standby to make an arrest.
"It hurts, he cannot pee and walk when it's on," she said. "If he tries to remove it, it will clasp even tighter... however, it doesn't break the skin, and there's no danger of fluid exposure."
I dont think these would be used responsibly and are a really bad idea. I'm also thinking that pissing off a rapist .. is probably not the best idea.... seems like it might escalate a rape to murder or something else once they find out something is attached to their stuff
Ever see prison inmates with all of their front teeth missing? In mamy cases those are the ones who thought they'd prevent a fellow inmate from raping them. They'd bite down on the rapists boogey-nights and consequently get his grill smashed out with a blunt object. I'm guessing this tampon trap would only put the rapist into a rage and cause further harm to the victim.

Exactly, he may get caught with the "evidence" but me thinks they will have a hard time getting a statment from a corpse.
This could be really bad if used irresponsibly. What if a woman gets drunk and goes home with another dude who's drunk? What if she uses it to get back at her boyfriend for having an argument? Who's to say that a rapist couldn't pull out with this thing on and get away, to remove it later? Is it easier to remove if the penis is flaccid?
Also, it's interesting that she says that they could be used when going on a blind date or walking in a shady area.. it just seems to me that it would be uncomfortable to walk around with..and would they remember to put it in on these situations?
Also, her comment- "Yes, my device may be a medieval, but it's for a medieval deed that has been around for decades" made me chuckle.. I'm sure she didn't mean to say "decades" but rape has been around for probably as long as humans have been able to reproduce..
Well, this is something that would escalate the rape situation into maybe something even more violent; I am not saying that the rape would be acceptable, but if someone is already crazy enough to try to overpower a female to rape her, and she happens to be wearing some instrument like this, there is no telling about how the rapist may act. Sounds like the situation would further escalate into more violence.
