Why would you be afraid of being in trouble for marriage fraud???

If you're in love with this person and the marriage is legit, why worry?

If you really are getting married just for the green card, you could end up in jail.

Petition for Alien Fiance(e) There's a good link in the upper right of this page with some good info.

I was wondering the same.

If you are truly in love, and both of you are legally able to marry you have nothing to worry about.

What the first two posters said.

I also suggest this: get to know her well and be as sure as you can she won't ditch you once she gets a green card. I have seen and heard of too many horror stories of foreign women latching onto innocent and unsuspecting US Citizen men.

Good luck.

Well I have no assests But how can they tell the difference between a legit and fake marriage? That is why I am afraid, legit or not wont they think it is fraud?

Yes I agree with this. How well do you know her?

Um, no. Why would they? If it's legit, there won't be a problem. Immigration & Customs Enforcement has bigger problems to deal with than U.S. citizens falling in love with foreigners and living happily every after. My Mom wasn't a U.S. citizen when she married my Dad. I don't think the INS (now USCIS) had an issue with it at all.

Get a fiancee visa if you're going to get married in the U.S, not a tourist visa. That way, your new wife will be able to get a job here after the wedding. You'd have to get married within 90 days of her arrival in the U.S.

I know it's a royal pain to pay so much money for the visa, and fill out mounds of paperwork but in the long run it's better to do things the legal way.
