This has probably been done before somewhere in CD land but I was wondering how do you all deal with people who always have to "one-up" you? My SO's friend's GF (who I don't even like, but you kind of get thrown together) always has to one-up me when we are around eachother. Example: her car is better, her family is better, she's skinnier etc. So ANNOYING. Anyways, I never know what to say when this happens.
You think this is a story? Let me tell you MY story. MY story is way better than your story. MY friend is way more annoying with trying to one-up me all the time! She has the nerve!!

MY story is better yet, and I'd tell you, but I got a splinter yesterday and I think it's infected and the doctor says I may have advanced gangrenitis and I probably will have to be flown to the Mayo clinic by helicopter.

That's nothing. Let me tell you what real pain and illness is.....

Bwah ha ha ha!!! You made me laugh out loud!! We really need new updated smiley faces here!
I love calling people like that out by making a comment like "Must be difficult walking around with self esteem so low that you have to make to make everyone else feel lower than you, huh?" LOL Then I wait and allow them to pick up their lower jaw off the ground and walk on smiling ear to ear.
I agree with with the poster who said something about her being insecure. Honestly, I'm always speechless when she always is better/has better. I try to be nice to her because the GF of my SO's friend, but every time it's all about her and what she has! She did lose about 60 lbs (I hadn't seen her for about 2 years since we lived in a different city) which is great for her but at the same time she doesn't need to rub it in my face that she is skinnier than I am now.
LOL...Ashcody, I've Got A Classic Captain Line For Ya

Any time you encounter one of those 'one-uppers', especially those who just HAVE to tell you about their latest 'toy', just tell 'em "Y'know a wise man once said he or she who dies with the most toys is still a dead [insert popular 12-letter term beginning with m and ending in r here LOL]
my question is, have you ever caught yourself one upping by accident?
i did that today by accident.
just because I knew a story of my own that related and wanted to continue the conversation.
