Rules don't work in dating because everyone is different. Find someone that you have something in common with and that you have chemistry with and go for it. If you try to follow some arbitrary dating rules, you will fail.
That's where 'love is not blind' comes in. Then, if it turns to love and marriage, you proceed with your eyes half closed.
