I've been talking to this woman for a while and I really like her so far. She told me that she likes me too. We usually have pretty long conversations and we flirt a lot. So I've been trying to set up a date for the last 2-3 weeks now and every time I try, something ends up happening. The first time, I set up the time and place. 2 or 3 hours before the date she sends me a text saying she can't make it and doesn't explain why. So I was upset and sent her an email about it since I couldn't reach her. I had almost decided that I was done with this woman but that I would stick around for a bit just to see if she could redeem herself. So, later she responds saying that her grandmother was in the hospital and that she was very sorry about not explaining why she couldn't make it since she was in a rush. So I gave her the benefit of the doubt and decided to try and set up another time.
Then she gets the flu and goes to the hospital herself. So I support her and tell her to get well soon, etc. Later in the week she has to go back into the hospital again because she had fainted and broke something while falling to the floor. So again I supported her and told her that I am sorry she is having to go through all of this crap. So now she is finally out of the hospital but she is wearing a sling from the injury she had. I told her I would be willing to wait until she recovers fully before setting up another date. Since she got out we've been having longer conversations again since she is not all drugged up at the hospital.
My gut feeling is that she likes me but that she is just going through so much **** right now that I either just need to be patient or move on. I have no reason to believe that she is lying to me. Otherwise, why would she waste so much time talking to me and then make up a lie? She is very flirty and sexual with me at times. I don't think she would act this way with every single guy she talks to but maybe that's the case. Am I being an idiot here and not seeing the obvious? Is this the sort of thing women do these days to avoid having to actually go on a date with a guy? Are they so afraid to reject a guy that they make up these elaborate plots? Maybe she likes me but she is too nervous to actually go on a date? I just have this feeling she likes me. We have so much in common (very rare for me to find these days). Am I just being an idiot and need to move on or what? I'm in my mid-20's and have hardly ever dated, so I am not up to speed with the 2010 dating world. Thanks!
You've never met her? Have you at least seen her on web-cam? Or even seen a variety of photos over time? If not, then I suspect she's a fake, and certainly not who she portrays herself as being. Unless you can verify somehow that her excuses are real, you have only her word, and that doesn't seem very reliable.
My rule is, you get one cancellation, then you have to arrange the next meeting, and if you cancel that, you probably won't get another chance unless I have some proof that you are who you say you are and the excuse is very, very good.
If you have never met her face to face my guess is that she is not as attractive as you think in your mind and she has been protraying herself in a better light than what she looks like in reality. She is hiding. I don't buy it..too many excuses.
If you were a women you be told, "he's just not that into you."
I think that holds true here. If she wanted to meet you by now, she would have. I think she is hiding something. I'd continue to keep an open line with her, but not close doors on other opportunities.
It sounds like a whole lot of "bad luck" happening in a short time.
I would tell her to give you a call, when she feels up to it.
