I don't know how people do it. My mother was married 4 times. After my 1 and only divorce I asked her "How the hell did you go through 3 divorces?". She said something I've suspected all along "I don't think I loved the first 3, just thought I did." This most recent break up was 100x worse than my marriage ending, so I often wonder if people who get married multiple times are confused into thinking they are in love. I just don't see how anyone who truely loves another and it fails, can just bounce back into another relationship. Maybe thats the problem, they are rebounders.
I think it depends. Most people say you should only marry once but there are many examples of those who do get married, and once you do, the person you marry changes, either becomes abusive, mean, cheats or something afterwards. Its happened to me....after all...do you really think someone would marry an abusive or mean person, knowing thats what they are, beforehand?? But then, I know someone who's been married 8 times and his 8th wife, after all those tries, has turned out to be the lifetime companion, he's still married to this day, after 20 years!
Your first marriage is just for pratice the second one you should take seriously. By the time your second marriage rolls around you should know what went wrong & why, & try not to repeat your mistake the second time around.
What Is The Minimum Number Of Times One Should Marry?
-1
Cool. But how about an imaginary number, such as (-1)^1/2 (square root of minus one)?
I do like the optional renewal concept best, though, with annual renewal and laws changed to provide clarity for cases of non-renewal.
Personally, I might do a year on, a year off until I get tired of that!
