Do you have any thoughts on the style of watch--very important to the decision of what kind of watch to purchase.

Silver or gold--very important to know her preference on this. Or she might enjoy more contemporary-'mixed metals'.

Large or small, also a consideration.

Citizen watches are not only reliable and stylish, they have an eco series that does not rely on batteries. They run around $250. I believe you can find them on Amazon or Overstock.

Another really good alternative in that price range is Seiko. Look online rather than at jewelry stores, the prices are far lower.

there are zillions of watches. You first need to figure out what her style is.

For me, I like Fossil watches. I like their designs.... but in this day and age of having a cellphone, it has been about four years since I wore a watch regularly. FOSSIL Women's Watches: Dress, Sport, Digital & Glitz Watches for Women.

Bulova makes nice women's watches, too. If not all, at least some are in this price range.

I have a solar watch. It's really nice to never think about batteries.

Seiko and Bulova make nice watches. I suggest you check out a women's magazine like Glamour or InStyle for inspiration.
