Between the ages of 17 and 32 I was consistently in long term relationships. I always enjoyed being in a relationship.

The last relationship that I was in was with my ex-fiancee. We were together for 5 years. When we broke up it almost killed me. That was 2 years ago.

Since then I have had absolutely no desire to be in a relationship. This is the longest I have been single since the age of 17 and I really enjoy it. I don't know if I will ever have a desire to be in a relationship ever again.

When I tell my family this they act as if it is the oddest thing they have ever heard.

Is it really that odd?

You experienced relationship burnout, and discovered that you are quite happy being single. Sounds pretty healthy to me. You may eventually want another relationship, but as long as you're happy with the status quo, it would be a mistake to push it. Families often push a "normal" agenda, while neglecting to look at the needs of the individual. Just tell them you'll find someone when the time is right.

It's not odd. The same thing happened to me. After my ex, I was single for at least 3 years. I worked on myself and learned to enjoy being alone. Nothing wrong with not being in a relationship if YOU are happy. Now, I am back in a relationship (that came out of the blue, no searching for someone) and I feel the alone time I had, did me some good. Be happy and enjoy your single time...you never know when someone may come along and change it.

Not odd at all. Learning to be content with yourself is one of the healthiest things you can do.
