[quote=CaliTerp07;21310938]Why would you guys choose to go on a vacation to a place where the activities revolve around water 99% of the time, if you can't swim?

Sounds like the guy is a clueless idiot...but it also sounds like you shouldn't have been in the water if you're that uncomfortable. I would have cried too--and then I would have signed up for swim lessons when I got home.[/quote

I had fun except for the being scared part, the view was amazing. and yes I'm trying to sign up for swim lessons..

Anyone that agrees to go snorkeling, when they can't swim, deserves an idjit for a boyfriend.

Not that I believe such a tall tale.

Snorkeling is easy once you get it. it doesn't really required someone to be a swimmer to do it. of course it would be lot more fun if you were a swimmer.

I`m sure that he was mighty generous taking you on a trip to Hawaii, let alone snorkeling, so did you explain to him how scared you were about what happened, and your concern as to why he didn`t "come to your rescue?"
I mean, a woman wants to think that if she is in trouble, that her man will be there for her, not run away.

I scuba dive, so I know the deal. I've never heard of anyone that would even attempt snorkeling without knowing how to swim.

You DID told him you couldn't swim right before the trip right?
he knew I couldn't swim.

and yes the guard was a good looking young guy, good body i enjoyed his company. but nevertheless, still wished it was my bf who was by my side.

I saw a number of people in the Mayan Riviera last year snorkelling that didn't look very capable in the water. Dangerous - but some people really do seem to think a mask and snorkel will save them. Scary.

I am an avid scuba diver and spearfisherman. I am talking 1-2 times a week if the weather and seas are good.

I agree with you. Snorkeling seems easy but if someone is really not comfortable in the water, they should not try.
