I've been having a debate with a friend: Does bisexuality exist? Why or why not?
We both read an article that stated men and women who identify as bisexual have higher rates of suicide, mental and physical health problems, substance abuse, involvement in abusive realtionships, and poverty as their gay/lesbian and heterosexual counterparts. Why do you think this might be?
I thought I might get some interesting input, here.

Bisexuality exists, without question. As to why bisexuals MAY have higher rates of problems, it may be due to internal conflicts over gender identity and sexual preference, combined with a close-minded judgmental society that stigmatizes anyone different. At least homosexual people have a clear identity and increasing acceptance and mutual support that is not generally available to bi people, as far as I know.

Excellent point.
Bisexual people are frowned upon by heterosexuals who believe they're unreliable, closeted gay people and promiscuous, and they are frowned upon by homosexuals who believe they're unreliable, closeted heterosexual people (or denying their true homosexual identity to be able to "play straight" like mainstream society dictates) and promiscuous.
In fact, bisexual men and women are quite simply that: bisexual men and women. And yes, of course they exist.
