Why? Because you learn what members of the opposite sex are actually looking for. And no just any member of the opposite sex, but ones you would actually consider dating.

Lets be honest, most guys don't give a rats axx what overweight or unattractive women think. They aren't going to walk into a Jenny Craig convention any time soon and say " what can I do to make myself more attractive to you little porkers?"

They want to know what hot women think. They want to know what hot women are looking for. So.....read their online dating profile. Yes many of those hot women are bxtchy and demanding in their profiles. And yes you might be shallow as sht. But at least you will be playing the game using the correct rules.

Playing backgammon with the checkers rulebook realy sucks.

I haven't participated in online dating for years. However, I find no joy in reading profiles. Obviously, as a guy, if I am physically attracted to someone, it really dosen't matter what there profile says. Having ambitious goals, a nice career, and wordly hobbies is just icing on the cake. If I am not attracted to the person, I probably could care less if they swam from Greenland to Antarctica and back. Besides, after a while, all profiles start to sound the same. (I just moved her from such and such, I love books about, my family is the most important thing in my life, etc, etc.)

Your girlfriend is SO LUCKY. Not only is she deemed "boring" by her man but he continues to go on POF despite being in a relationship! Where does the line to date you start?

Reading dating profiles mostly makes me think that no one cherishes proper spelling, grammar, or clear communication anymore.

Online dating is mostly a waste of time, especially for men.

Wow. You just made 2 million women with online dating profiles wince. Hot women on match.com get contacted 50 times a day, and are really making every possible effort to weed out the keepers from the losers. So it may not matter to you what her profile says. But it sure as hell matters to her.

I don't really care to read profiles in order to figure out what women on dating sites want because I honestly don't care what they want and if they actually list out some arbitrary requirements I don't even waste my time on them.

If I see a picture that draws me in I may read the profile. I may check out other pictures and something may turn me off before I even get to the profile. If I actually read the profile and find the woman interesting, I usually write a short note on something interesting they mentioned or something we have in common.

It's true though... I doubt most men even glance at the profiles, especially judging by the messages I receive that ask questions that are very clearly answered in my profile.
